Leading Second exists for church leaders everywhere. If you lead in any capacity in your church besides the role of Lead Pastor, Leading Second is for you. We are a community of church builders who lead, while doing it on someone else’s behalf. Anyone from a volunteer to paid staff will find benefit from our tribe.
Leading Second is a tribe, not a network. So, there’s nothing official to join. If the DNA of Leading Second resonates with you, we consider you to be part of our tribe. It’s that simple.
There are several ways for you to connect with the tribe in a greater way:
Brandon Stewart and the Leading Second team regularly do ministry and coaching in local churches throughout the US, Canada, and beyond. For information on inviting Leading Second to your church, contact us here.
While every leader would benefit from taking the online course, we designed it specifically with new or emerging leaders in mind. If you’re new to leadership in your local church (paid or volunteer) this is a great place for you to start.
No. The online course is available at no cost to you through the generous support of the partners of Leading Second. At times, options will be provided to go through the online course under the guidance of a Leading Second coach, which may include a cost.
The online course is available primarily for inspirational purposes, taking the place of teaching that might be received in a church staff meeting or leadership gathering. The course has no affiliation with any educational institution or program.
Coaching Groups through Leading Second are designed for established leaders on a church team, serving in either a paid or volunteer capacity. If you’re new to leadership, consider taking our online course first.
Yes. There is a fee to join a coaching group for a specific quarter. Discounts are available at various times throughout the year. All information on fees and discounts can be found within the coaching groups application process.
While there is no limit to the number of people from any single church who can participate in a coaching group each quarter, we limit participation to two people from a church in any single group. Therefore, availability for multiple participants from your church will be determined on the number of groups offered in a given quarter.

No, not necessarily. We simply ask that you’re part of a church team in some capacity, whether that’s in a paid or volunteer capacity. We accept applications on a variety of factors, including availability, group chemistry, applicant information, etc.
It is our heart to accept as many applications as possible for coaching groups. You’ll receive a confirmation immediately after submitting your application that it has been received. However, applications will not be accepted until approximately two weeks prior to groups beginning. If your application is accepted, you’ll receive an email at that time with final instructions.
No fees are due for coaching groups until an application has been accepted (approximately two weeks prior to groups beginning). At that time, you’ll receive an online invoice for all coaching group fees. We ask that all fees be paid prior to the first group meeting.
Under certain circumstances, we’re happy to work with a group participant in regards to a refund request. If you’ve experienced an extenuating circumstance that will prohibit you from continuing in your assigned coaching group, contact us to discuss possibilities of a refund.

Yes. Leading Second is fiercely protective of the local church. Therefore, any involvement in the Leading Second team must work in sync with any responsibilities you may carry at your local church.
We ask that all prospective team members talk with their pastor and get his/her permission before submitting interest in joining our team.
Paid Staff
If you’re on the paid staff of your church, we ask that you discuss your potential involvement with your Lead Pastor AND direct supervisor. Additionally, the Leading Second team will request an introduction to them to discuss this opportunity before any decisions are made.
